My engine sat without coolant for about a year, I'm in the process of re-assembling it.
I've noticed a lot of white powdery corrosion in the coolant passages. I assume it's from the surfaces being exposed to ambient air and not immersed in coolant. I'm worried about detrimental effects in the pump and heat exchanger. I purchased some Prestone corrosion/scale flush. I'm supposed to drain the system, put the flush in, top it off with water, run it for a bit, then drain the "flush" material and refill with proper coolant. I'm curious as to the best place to drain it from, ie the "low point" in the system. I'll be doing the work with the boat on the trailer.
