1990 115 Johnson - Carb rebuild - Should I Remove Lead Shot?

I'm going to rebuild the carbs on my 1990 Johnson 115 that I just bought used. Should I remove the lead shot on each carb? Can clogging dirt get behind there? I don't see much mention of removing it in YouTube videos. The parts kit from OMC does not include it as far as I know (have not received the kit yet). Can I skip fiddling with it?

Don't remove it. Just clean the carb good especially the high speed jets. The lead shot is not in the kit.
