1990 25hp Johnson

Hi everybody, new member here. I recently purchased an 89 Fisher with a 1990 Johnson 25hp on remote controls. Been trying to get it running properly so i can take her out. Motor starts after pushing key in to prime for 8 seconds. Motor idles for about 15 seconds then dies out. Motor will continue to run if i manually open the throttle. if i let it go back to idle it immediately dies out. I checked 1 of the primer lines & believe its working properly. The primer's new but doesn't seem to get firm when priming. Plugs look really black & sooty. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Which way is the red lever facing on the primer? You push the key in while starting. Doing it 8 seconds before does nothing.

Arrow facing towards the solenoid. I can hear it clicking when i push in the key and it squirts fuel out of the priming line.

Key is to be pushed in while cranking.----Holding it in for 8 seconds is a wild tall tale from your launch ramp experts !----If primer bulb does not firm up you have a leak.---Float valve.----Fuel pump diaphragm or inside your fuel tank.

What trouble shooting has been done ?----Post results of a compression test.----You have installed a new water pump impeller I hope !----Spark that jumps a 3/8" gap ( 1 cm ) on both leads ?
