I don't know the proper terms and have never had a problem with my 1990 4.3 OMC Cobra until now. I know there have been some nasty problems with these by reading the forum. But can anyone give me a fix - Once you put in reverse, cylinder fire is cut back and will not straighten up. I can probably deal with the lack of reverse but thought maybe some may have a fix. I can see how the mechanism works on the carburetor, but if I try and asses that, I'll probably get something else out of adjustment. Thanks in advance...

I don't know abou your boat, but on my 88 the ESA has nothin to do with the carbeurator. It goes to the distributor and kills half the cylinders.

I would start by unhooking the ESA and seeing if that changes anything.
