Been working on this motor for a few weeks now. Rebiult carbs, cleaned all elec connections, link & sync and so on. Motor runs great.
Got 1 question:
Below the bottom carb there's a nipple on the manifold with no hose on it. I found a picture of it in the parts break down and it shows a hose going to it but it doesn't show where the other end of the hose goes.
Is this just a drain or is it supposed to be connected to something?
Phil

(Edit)
I looked at '93 88SPL this morning. The nippple has a hose going to the left side cylinder head....different motor but it leads me to believe the thing should go somewhere.

Depends on the size of the hose, the 1/4 hose goes to the nipple on the air silencer. Now that it runs great do the Service Bulletins to upgrade cooling system, cooling system temp sender, carbuators jets, timing and prop to 6000 rpms at wide open throttle.

Thanks for the reply clanton. The nipple is 1/8". Much smaller than the nipple on the silencer.
And where do I find all these upgrades?

I finally got to my parts books. The 1990 60HP shows this nipple connected to the air silencer. The hose is id as air silencer hose.

Thanks clanton. I searched all over the engine looking for another nipple and didn't find one. Figured it had to go to the air silencer. So where do I find the service bulletins/upgrades you mentioned? Searched the forum and didn't find anything

I've got an '86 70 horse. It's got that same nipple (facing port side). I believe it went to the VRO that's been removed. Should I put a plugged hose on it? Engine runs great, just looks like it should be closed off.

bubbacat
I talked to a service tech at bombardier and he faxed me SB2276 which relocates the water pump indicator outlet to the top of the exhaust manifold. Took care of that one this morning.
This SB applies to:
1986-1994 70 HP
1987-1994 65 HP
1989-1994 60 HP
Also got SB2271, Calibration Change (larger high speed jets and less maximum spark advance).
This SB applies to:
1991& 1992 60 HP
1992 65 HP
1991&1992 70 HP
which doesn't apply to my motor sine a 1990 60 HP.
If you have anything else let me know.
mxmoverdrive@yahoo.com
