I posted a message about a week ago asking for help with the above motor-
It randomly died when applying throttle, and warning buzzer squeaked...though it ran fine at low (just above idling) speeds.

I think we've found the problem. :) We disconnected the temprature sensor while it was acting up and it ran like a dream. Since the water pump is putting out a very strong steam of water, it appears that the sensor (or the control) has gone bad.
Anyone ever had/heard of this happening?

I plan on replacing the sensor and see if that corrects problem. I'll let you know if it does... Thanks to all for the suggestions! What a great resource!!!

Check temp sensor tan wire, upgraded sensor is tan with blue stripe. Upgraded waterpump kit pn 432955, has new spring for pressure relief valve, and relocation of tattle tale nipple on block.

Clanton is right on, as usual. but if the sensor is not defective, you may have a salt blockage in the water jacket somewhere.
This is not very likely, but I have seen it happen on a salt water engine that was never flushed. Salt had crystalized in and around the head. It looks like that white corossion batteries get on the terminals.
