1990 90 hp force ignition problems

well i bought a used boat and it has a 90 hp force engine. it had compression and appears to be getting gas however after inspection for spark i only get spark on coils for cylinder 2-3. i thought bad coil but decided to try it connected to other cylinder cdi wire and it works. so now i am wondering how to test to see if cdi is bad or if it is a stator problem. can anyone tell me how to test this?

after doing some digging i read about a guy that had a spare wire on the ignition module. which the one i am having problems with is the one that is only operating one coil as well. so i swapped to the other wire that is coming out of that ignition module checked for spark and got nothing.
any help would be great.

ok after some testing i checked the trigger and that seems to be good. all three sets right on 50 ohms. however i checked the stator wires ,i think, the wire i can see are two blacks and two browns coming from same spot however when i check there i get like 1.5m. however i am not sure i am reading the right four wires. i check the two blacks that go into the ignition module and two browns that go to the terminal below ignition module. i checked from black to brown not brown to brown etc... i read the page from the previous post and tried to understand as best as possible. i is to late to start turning the motor over where i am so i will have to wait until the morning to try disconnecting the stop wires.

ok so i was finally able to work on motor today and turns out it must be the blocking dioide as soon as i remove one leg it runs great except now i cant stop motor! guess i have to by new ignition module.

There are always good CDI boxes on ebay. You may have to buy 2 boxes and the coils as a set but usually a good price.
