WE NEED HELP FRANK!!! haha! We purchased a 1990 bayliner Capri 19ft. with 120 hp FORCE engine and we have the same identical problem! We purchased the boat not running and we seen water coming in the bottom cylinder, We dont have any history on the boat as far as the last time it ran. We replaced the exhaust, head and powerhead gaskets ( all the gaskets) Replaced Spark plugs and cleaned carbs, (we have 2 carbs on our engine) we finally got the boat to crank, Smokes really bad at first. (I figured this is normal for a 2 stoke engine when cold) then when we put the boat in gear it would always die. We adjusted the carbs to get a higher rpm. The boat runs now. Cranks well and sounds okay except we can hear it missing/skipping. we took our children out (4 of us) and the boat would not run fast enough to plain out. We assummed the prop was the reason. We took the boat to a prop dealer and he advised us that it should not have any play in it. (He installed a spacer (plastic washer) and tested the prop. He said that the prop was good!! Sooo.. We took it out on the water again... Same thing.. Would only go around 15 mph and 3,000 rpm's. The boat sounds like it wants to go, But, just cant get any speed out of it. we have tested the plugs while in motion, all were firing with a good blue spark. (so, I assume my coils are good?) I did notice rust inside the boot on the spark plug wires. We are changing the spark plug wires this week. Does ANYONE have a freaking clue of whats going on?? We really want a fising boat and a ski boat. right now, we just have a fishing boat. (trolling motor) Lol!! WE wanna go faster!!!
