1990 evinrude 120 water leak?

hello all i have a 1990 120 when i started it up for the first time i seen water coming out from where the shift lever and gas lever hook to the power head not a lot of water is coming out just drips should anything be coming from there ? if not what might be coming on it happens in the water and on muffs i will try and get a pic of the area to maybe help out thanks to all who may help

It's the water control valve for your thermosats. You probably have an oring leaking. Go to shop.evinrude.com, look up your mtr for any parts. They have good diagrams.

thank you for the reply. I am also having an other prob i can put it full open and it will go about half with a pause then kick in to full open (runs around 5500 rpm) and when running full open will drop rpms then back up not sure if this is do to the leak or the fuel not getting where it needs to go or something else ?

Troubleshoot your fuel system. The water leak has nothing to do with it.
