I bought a redodo 20ah cranking battery for my 1980 Johnson 35 hp outboard. Motor has has no rectifier and no busbar. I don't see any wires for the stator, so I think it has no rectifier either. I have been using this set up without issue this spring. Now comes in my next issue.
I bought a 1990 Evinrude 9.9 for the HP restricted lakes around me. Problem im seeing is Lithium and 35 year old 2 strokes outboards with rectifiers/stators don't play well together. I found I can get a DC to DC charger/isolator to charge my lithium battery. At least i think i can do this I'm still not 100% sure.
My questions are which size isolator/charger would yall recommend? Second and more important will this D/C converter still allow same battery to be used to start outboard?
Im thinking it can flow Outboard -> charger/isolator -> lithium but i will have issue going
Battery ->charger/isolator->Outboard to start my motor. Thanks in advance.
