1990 Evinrude Revs Up High After10-15 MPH

I have a 1990 25HP Evinrude that recently starting reving up to high rpms but marginal acceleration past 10-15 mph. It would just rev up louder but barely accelerate. . If I turned back the throttle it would run normal but only up to 10-15 MPH.

i would check the prop hub,hub is sliping

sounds like a spun prop.... very common, especially if you hit something, or if the prop is very old.

Inside the propellor is a rubber hub, that the shaft goes through, this hub can break down, or break if the prop hit something while underway.

So it might "stick" at low RPM's but slip at higher rpms.

usually a cheap fix ~50-75 bucks at a prop shop....
