All work done by marine repair facilities: Spring: Had problem idling, one of the pump baffles was replace, idle good. Went to the lake to test, ran good but over temp alarm sounding. Used the lakes marina service to replace water pump impeller (they had difficult time getting lower end back on) once on, it wouldn't idle in the neutral position, died. It took over a week for them to get the lower end on and I had no problem with the motor running before I got the impeller replace so we settled on parts replacement and no working motor. Through the grape vine, found veteran service tech with 30 yrs of experience on older outboard motors.
It's now been 3 weeks he's replaced all reeds and carb gaskets (not running right), replaced all five spark plugs and new fuel pump gaskets, he's also had a fellow tech help him and they both cant get it to stay running in the idle position. It starts fine but once throttle is brought back to the neutral position it kills the motor immediately. Is there something obviously he's missing like some sort of switch killing motor.
