1990 Johnson 120

I was wondering if this year engine is a Looper or not? Also the water comeing out of the engine is just comeing out of a 5/8 piece of rubber hose comeing out the bottom. I was wondering if their should be a reducer comeing out of the hose. Most outboards have a small strong stream of water comeing out. Mine has good flow I was just wondering if the pump and system needed more back pressure instead of such a large outlet. Any comments on this engine are they good engines?

Its a 3/8 piece of hose not 5/8 my fault.

the 120 and 140 are looper charged. The outlet hose is normal...at least on mine it is that way...just a thought

I have never read a post claiming a systematic problem with any of the johnny/rude V4s. I have run them from 50hp to 140 & have a pair of 110s now.
