After shutting my motor off from idling on muffs for a while I noticed some gas dripping out of the bottom of the air intake cover. I pulled the cover off to find that the gasket (#47) and o-ring (#58) were shot at the bottom where it was leaking from. It's my understanding that this gasket and o-ring are in place to contain any spillage from the carbs so that it can be siphoned by the drain tube at the bottom of the air silencer. It seems like some spillage is to be expected, otherwise there wouldn't be an o-ring that only covers the bottom of the intake cover.
I pumped the bulb with the air silencer off and couldn't see gas leaking from anywhere, so my question is how much spillage is normal? I can't tell if excessive spillage from the carbs caused the gasket/o-ring to fail, or if they failed due to old age and made a normal amount of overflow visible in the form of a leak.
Also looks like I can't buy the o-ring anymore...
