I'm doing some rehab on my 1990 Four Winns...its got a Cobra Outdrive.

With the engine cover out, I noticed when turning back and forth there is play in the steering cable anchor. I tried to but a wrench on the outside nut to tighten it, but I cannot get the nut to move.

I appears there is a gasket in between the anchor and the steering mechanism. Any thoughts on how I can get this tightened down?

Howdy,

It might be more helpful if you post exactly what you have. 1990 OMC drives had 8 different engines and many different drive set ups. Also, your 1990 boat might have a 1989 engine and drive installed. Posting the exact engine/drive package model number will reduce the guessing!

It also might help if you post a picture of the "steering cable anchor" ............ We (or OMC) may know it by a different name!

Regards,

Rick
