Outdrive kicks up in reverse so assume lockout is in trouble. Having trouble finding any info or even parts diagram on internet for this particular type. What should I look for short of removing entire outdrive?
If yours is like mine, then it is all mechanical linkage up under the outdrive. The various parts and connections can get stuck and corroded. Not too difficult to take apart and clean. Then it should work fine.
Correct, outdrive does NOT have to be removed to replace the 4 springs as i found out firsthand. See a few pics on my blog: steigercraft23.blogspot.com.
The fix can be done with the drive on.
The lock or spring hook can be bad and need replacing.
You need to see if it just needs cleaning or replacing.
The parts from Volvo start at $100 and go up.
Some can be found on e-bay but make sure you get the right sides??
