The original sticker is long gone from the valve cover so I cannot find the serial number. Is there any other way of identifying the engine so I can get parts. The Engine block is stamped with OMC, GM and made in Mexico I think.... The only numbers I have been able to find are on a raised plate right below the starter and distributor cap. M02278RB/T1038034.... Then on the block further back are a couple numbers but I can only read on - 2772287. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

yeah, sorry I left that out. It's a 3.0 4 cylinder. I'm trying to find out the year, make n model of the engine. I found out Evinrude/Johnson bought out OMC. I called Evinrude and had to send in some pictures of the engine because there are 2 models for that year. Waiting to hear back from Evinrude/Johnson....

Ayuh,..... I think you'll find Bombardier bought out OMC corp, dropped OMC into the dustbin of history, 'n spun off Johnnyrude into it's outboard division,....

Usually on the older OMCs there was a tag on the engine - toward the rear, usually on the starboard side. A 1990 3.0l OMC would have a model number like 302AMRPWC 1990. An '89 would be a similar number.
