MY TRIM SENSOR GAUGE WENT FROM -1 TO 6 WITHOUT TRIMMING UP SO I NEED A NEW SENSOR. THE PART NUMBER IS 828728 ON THE TAG BUT CANT FIND IT ANYWHERE. DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT THE NEW PART NUMBER IS.THIS IS ON A 1990 VOLVO PENTA DP 280 OR 290.

are you sure you need a new sender? your clamp could have come loose. you could have corrosion on the terminals changing the resistance. have you re-set the sender?

I DID RESET THE SENDR BY REMOVING THE CLAMP. IT WAS HARD TO SET BECAUSE WHEN I TURNED THE WHEEL ON TOOTH SOMETIMES IT WOULD JUMP 7 NUMBERS ON THE GAUGE. I GOT IT BACH TO 0 AND WENT BACK OUT AND ITS CHANGED AGAIN. I THINK ITS IN THE SENSOR.

you cant simply change the position of the sensor without knowing the angle of the drive. you have to have the boat out of water, or at least a digital level that would be water proof if you want to adjust in the water. make sure the drive is level (see the manual for the proceedure) then adjust per the manual.

if your trim pump has a piece of dirt in a check valve, the drive will move.

WITH THE BOAT IN MY YARD AND THE TRIM ALL THE WAY DOWN IT USED TO READ -2 ON THE GAUGE NOW IT IS READING 4. I DONT HAVE A MANUAL TO SEE HOW TO ADJUST IT.BUT WHEN I DO GET IT CLOSE TO WHERE IT WAS WHEN I TRIM UP AND DOWN OUT OF THE WATER IT STILL CHANGES
