Hi guys, I have an Evinrude 1991 175hp, model number: VE175TXEID, I'm try to figure it out, if the temperature gauge is working properly, any idea what is the temperature that this motor should be running at? The reason that I?m asking is because the motor on ear muff since like it is getting hotter than at the ramp, if I run over 10 minutes at idle 1200 rpm, temperature start rising up to 270 F and it stay there. It doesn?t going higher than that. Is that a normal Temperature? I will really appreciated any help I can get

Thank you

140 - 150 degrees F. i think you have a problem with you guage. get an infared thermo, and measure the actual temp on the head. at 270 the motor should have shutdown.

Thanks for your quick response, 140 - 150 degrees F is what I get at the boat ramp but with ear muff it goes way to high after the motor has been run for a while. I also have a water pressure gauge any idea what the water pressure should be at idle and at wow?

Thank you

are you sure the muffs are on correctly, over the intake, and hose of full force. sure sounds like you are not getting enough water on muffs.

With a new impeller, it should pump 6-8 lbs at idle and around 18 at WOT.
