I'm working on an 18 ft Mariah ski boat/pleasure boat. The owners don't know squat about a boat or taking care of it and neither does the marina they've had working on it. Prop is loose and rubbing against housing and has obviously been beating on rocks. The trim tab is broken off ... probably prop hit it. Nice boat but so many problems it's gonna cost more to get it fixed up than the boat is worth.... smooth running engine, nice outdrive....
Question is... is there a real difference in trim tabs? My catalog shows 3 or 4 I can choose from but does not list anything specifically for this outdrive (pretty much an Alpha/pre-alpha) it just says "Mercruiser"... has power tilt XL on trim cylinders. Only difference I see is "racing" "aluminum" "zinc"... I'm confused... I've got a bucket full of old one's off of old 140's, 470's, and 260's. Sierra numbers I'm looking at are 18-6012 or 18-6014
Exhaust & shift cable bellows are shot, core plug was out and starter had to be replaced. Wood behind upholstery is rotted....
