I bought a 14ft aluminum jon boat yesterday, and it has a fairly clean 4 hp on it. The owner said he thinks its a 91 model. I searched and found a pic of one exactly like it and it does look like a 91. Black with a red, charcoal,silver band. I searched all over it for a tag or serial number. The only thing I spotted was on the motor in a metal disc the size of a quarter was the following number #A892068. Its a single cylinder if that matters. Ring any bells? Anyways I ran some 50:1 mix and it smoked like crazy. So I need to figure out what ratio to use. Also where to get a carb kit as it drips while running. Thanks for any help

Rayzor;

Your engine comes up as:

4 A887146 - D901216 1992

From here:

http://www.storesonline.com/site/573683/page/609760

It is a Model number:

1004201MK MERCURY 1992 4

Parts Listing:

You will find carb repair kits in the Carburetor Section and as pointed out in another post this morning, remeber to check the float height for correct setting when you have the unit disassembled.

Here is a copy of your service manual on ebay. Suggest you move on it quickly:
