Have twin 350's in a 1991 Sportcraft Fishmaster, straight inboards. Port engine has been basically running itself out of fuel. Rebuilt the carburator, looking to the fuel pump next even though after it would cut out, it would usually start back up with minimal fuss. Tanks are full, new sending unit and did a visual on the inside of the tank- looks clean.

Any thoughts?

How are the engines plumbed to the fuel system? Separate pickups in the tank, or coming from tee. Is there water separating fuel filter/s not on the engines?
What is the model numbers on the engines?

I don't recall which models but if memory serves they either say 260 or 570 on the black engine cover- memory fart. The boat has twin 100 gallon saddle tanks, 1 for each engine with no crossover that I know of- cause they sure don't drain equally (we run 1 engine for trolling). Vapor lock doesn't seem likely since the engine fires back up fairly easily. At a loss at this point.

If this is a recent problem and not one you've had all allong I suspect trash in your fuel lines, maybe in your tank and lines pre filter. If posiible, I would disconnect your fuel lines from the tank, filters, and engine and blow them out with low pressure air. Change or clean your fuel filter as well. If it is starting fine and running well but runs the carb out of gas it's probibly an obstruction in the tank/lines or stuck bowl float, or fuel pump. It almost sounds like it draws gas fine than picks something up that blocks the line, perhaps a chunk of crud in the tank that is sucked up and block the pick up but falls back when engine dies and vaccum is let off. I would blow the lines before next use to eliminate that possibility, take a small hammer or something you can tap on the carb bowl with when it starts to run out of gas, allot of times that will un-stick a stuck float. If those don't pinpoint the problem than i'd look to fuel pumps and the tank itself. Something I learned in the Navy, allways check the simple solutions first as they are less expensive and less manhour intensive, and ALWAYS expect Murphy to show up so take steps to make your work bulletproof. Hope this helps ya.

Carb is rebuilt, float no-sticky. We have regular fuel filter and racor fuel water seperators for both engines/tanks and they're all new and installed correctly- literally changed nothing from last year. I've gathered thru reading that junk being picked up usually occurs at low fuel and our tanks have been run at 1/4 3/4 and full with the same result, so I don't want to officially rule it out, but seems unlikely. We varified the cleanliness of the tanks while installing new sending units- nothing floating or sitting on bottom from what we could tell- I realize that the particle could be smaller and hiding.

Thanks, keep it coming!

Checked fuel lines, flow is not a problem. Can a fuel pump just get weak over time? Even a mechanical one?
