I am seeking guidance on changing the lower unit oil seals on my 1991 70hp force.
in particular the shift shaft oil seal.
I have not been able to find anything specific to this motor. I know the various methods of prying or drilling into the seal to remove.
I have also read recommendations regarding other force motors to NOT remove the shift shaft.
Is that the case here as well?
any and all tips and tricks will be appreciated.

thanks malik

The 91/70 is a Mercury style lower, yet they use some Force parts????.
You still shouldn't remove the shift shaft.
The screw on the side of the unit shouldn't be removed.
That holds the shift mechanism in place.
Remove either the screw or the shaft and the drive gets taken apart to fix.

The Mercury seal and o-ring is all you need.
The seal and o-ring should unscrew and removal of the seal fairly easy.
Use sealer but not so much the shaft gets any sealer.
The shaft needs grease.
