1991 Force

Engine was running fine, then suddenly went into an idle mode. They couldn't get it to do anything but idle. They shut it off and it wouldn't start back up. Can anyone help with this? I just acquired this boat and am unsure if this is caused by 2 different problems.

What engine model? Could be as simple as the carburator linkage coming off. Pull off the cowling and take some photo's....pics are worth a thousand words......
