Starter solenoid is only used when the starter is cranking.-------Nothing to do with putting the motor in gear.----Have you considered removing the bypass covers for inspection ?

Will I need to replace the gaskets after removing? And pardon my ignorance, what would I be looking for after removal?

New gaskets are cheap.-----You would be looking for damage to pistons and rings.-----Post # 1 says you tool carburetors apart.------Was there any dirt / gummed up fuel in there, yes or no ?------Did you remove the high speed jet ( orifice plug ) found screwed into the carburetor bowls, yes or no ?

No, carbs were not gummed up. No, I did not remove office, but went through every office with a piece of steel wire after spraying with cleaner, then I used compressed air to dry.

Ok, so I had the boat up and running (turns out that I still had some bad fuel in the system, drained and replaced, this helped). Boat ran pretty good for the first time after replacing fuel, but later in day, I could not get on plane. Almost like it was starving for fuel. I removed cowl and noticed that I'm either leaking around the seam on the crankcase. I was thinking it may be the bypass covers leaking, but cannot be certain. If it is leaking around the crankcase seam, is it worth taking to someone to pull powerhead and fix, or just try to find a used motor. The leak in the crankcase is only when boat is under load, not able to duplicate when running in driveway. Any ideas?
