I just recently bought a boat that the engine was froze up in it. I pulled the engine and it was completely seized and full of rust.

Now I have a new engine and I'm putting the accessories back on. I went to clean the manifolds and risers and notice when there laying on their side and I run water through the water jet, water comes out of exhaust ports. If I stand them as they were sitting on the engine, I can run water in them and I don't get any water in the exhaust. Does this sound right?

Only way to test exhaust is to block off the top and put a little pressure on the water side.

If you change manifolds and elbows, update to the 'dry-joint' ones.
