On this year motor what is the warning horn supposed to do? Is it overheat only?
I have this motor on my Nitro but it has gone bad. It is a three wire horn but does not appear to be an OMC product. There are no markings on it at all. It is cylindrical black with a red rim on rim at the sounding end.Does any person know of a replacement for it? The boat has Morse controls for throttle and shift. The ignition is on the dash the horn underneath the dash. It works sometimes as the ignition is turned on it beeps, sometimes it does not. Two of the male plus are loose if I wiggle one or the other it will sound but I can't have faith in it sounding should an issue arise.Thanks.

Over heat, fuel restriction, low oil, no oil.

They sell new buzzers. Yes, they need three wires.

terminals need to be tight fit staked spades, no wiggle.

Before I attempt to cut away the sealant casing and try to repair the spade connectors I would like to order one. I did not see them listed for my motor. Where might I find the part number?

In the appropriate rigging and accessories book. My microfiche is down, sorry no help...

there was a thread recently that has the number posted. Maybe rustywrench posted the part number I believe.

Thank you Jakedaawg. I lost my bookmarks but did manage to remember the accessories under each year. For those who may have an interest the new part # is 0585992.

Just to add my two cents & for those who might not know. Nitro (Bass Pro Shops) used their own wiring harnesses which included the horn & control box. The horn number given is an OEM horn. It will not look the same, but will do a good job. It will have a black ground wire (with an extra long pigtail), a purple wire for switched on power from key switch, & a tan lead which come from the senders on the motor. Various senders make the horn make different interval sounds to tell you what is wrong on this model. The new horn will have self test feature each time you turn the key on. Hope that helps.

Thanks Rustywrench .That's good info . Explains the cylindrical horn described above. I saw that bass pro shops has a parts dept. I will inquire with them to see if the horn is available through them and what it might cost.
