My trim switch seems to be going bad, it's way too sensitive and has a lot of play in it.

I've removed the plastic center cap, not sure what to do next, I can't seem to get socket to grab on in the center to remove that.

I also put the throttle in full forward position and I see there is a slot and an opening, however not sure how to remove that set screw if there is one there, it seems to be blocked by a red wire and the way my throttle is positioned between the hull and the seat, it's tough to get a good look in there.

I have attached a photo of my remote throttle with the center cap removed.

Thanks,
Jon

Thought this would get quickly answered here.

I have the manual somewhere, hoping it has the specs on this set screw.

Yes, lever in WOT (fast) position F gear. Slot in/near the bottom contains a hex socket set screw that locks the handle to the shaft.....lots of luck getting it loose after many years of usage. If you can get the screw out, then good luck getting the handle to pull off the shaft. If you make it that far you can access the mounting screws to the main control box, remove it from the bulkhead and open it up.

If you succumb to the normal, Iboats sells controls and cables since removing the unit probably will destroy it....BTDT

Thanks,

I was finally able to get this task completed.

I used a telescoping little mirror to get a better look into the hole, and that gave me a good idea of what size of allen wrench to use. I could also better tell where the red power wire was blocking access to the set screw. I used a long flat blade screwdriver to push the power wire off to the side a bit, and then used a 5/32nd Allen Wrench to get this set screw out!
