1991 Quicksilver Remote Throttle - can I replace just the Trim button?

The wires are damaged and the button itself has lost all of it's resistance, it just freely toggles without any resistance.

I'll attach pics of my model of remote throttle.

I was hoping to just replace the button and wires, without switching out the entire remote throttle system.

Fine. the 3 wires go back to the engine directly and you have the 12v Red power input to the center connection from the engine, for the down terminal, you have a green or green white stripe wire which goes back to the engine and is used to energize the Down relay and likewise for the other outer terminal controlling the Up relay using the blue/blue white stripe wire. Nothing else involved.
