Here is my situation, i am wondering if it is correct.
I just purchased the boat. I came with a 19 pitch prop, changed to 17 pitch.
the two props act about the same.
The boat acts fine with two people in it.
can get up on plane and goes about 30 at 4300 rpms.
When i put four people in it it doesnt want to let me get on plane, and goes about 26 mph.
Will be getting carbs rejetted soon for elev change.
Is this as fast as this boat should go.

TenE307,

MPH means very little in a boat as far as proper engine set up.

Your engine should be capable of reaching it's maximum wide open throttle rating with a light to moderate load. If not, you are lugging or overworking the engine.

If altitude is an issue, get the engine rejetted, as you mentioned, then go after the proper prop.

I owned a brand new one of these boats back in 1990. Mine would run well into the mid 40 mph range with 2 people and a medium fuel load. I do remember it slowing down quite a bit if the bottom wasn't kept clean.

What is the rpm at wide open throttle? You mentioned 4300 but not if it was WOT.
