Hi Folks. Been following this forum for awhile and figured I'd join up considering the wealth of knowledge.
Pending purchase: 1991 Wellcraft 232 bowrider, 350 Magnum , Alpha 1. Boat seems to be in very good shape especially for up here in the Great White North.
I can't figure if the drive is a Gen1 or Gen2. I know Merc switched to Gen2 in 1991 so I figure this could go either way. Serial number is 011 333 129. My guess is that this is a Gen1 and my question is would this deter anyone from buying this boat ?
All but one of my trucks are 1978s so old gear boxes don't scare me. I just want to tap into the knowledge base here before I go jumping into something first and getting advice later ! Not that I'd ever do that !
Also, this is a fresh water boat and I'll be putting it into salt water. Is swapping the cooling system to a closed system a big deal ?
