My 4.3 Bayliner has set quite a bit for the past few years but I usually start it up once or twice a year even though it’s not being used. I had replaced the starter several years ago and everything was fine. This year I tried to star it and when I turn the key all I get is a loud clunk and the engine won’t turn over. Happens every time I turn the key. Could this be the starter again. Thank you in advance for any info. Looking forward to doing some walleye fishing.

Welcome to iBoats . . .

Remove the spark plugs, make note of any water that comes out of the cylinders. Try turning the engine with the starter and the spark plugs out.

In addition to Teds comments - when you remove the plugs it should easily turn by starter or by hand.

If it is locked up after removing plugs, pull the drive as it could be an issue with drive, gimbal bearing, or u joints as well. If you have to pull the drive an it is still locked up then the engine is the issue
