Hello from Osan Korea,
Yes, I am stationed at Osan Korea and will be comming back to the states,Mascoutah Illinois, for good in about 16 days or 8 March 2008, can't wait to get out of here and get back to my wife and two daughters. Anyway, I am wanting upgrade and buy a bigger baot to make me and my wife happy. We currently have a 16 foot Chaparal 162XL ski boat bowrider with 88 h.p. Evinrude SPL V-4 that is getting to small for my family. I am looking at a 1992 Bayliner 26 foot Rendezvous deck boat model 2659 with a 1992 Yamaha Excel V6 150 horsepower out board. Currently I am bidding on this boat and the bid is met at $5,300.00, hopefully I win becuase it looks like a nice baot and I have talked to the owner who is at Ft. Myers Florida that served in the military in Vietnam for 2 years told me what comes on the boat with full mooring cover w/snaps, Hummingbird dept/fish finder, brand new bimini top, etc. Basically going back to the Yamaha motor I just described he had to get the lower unit rebuilt becuase he found milky oil in the gearlube and as a precautionary measure took it to a marine dealer who rebuilt and resealed the lower leg unit with brand new parts and spent $830.00 for the work. He said he has the paperwork from the marina, which I couldn't rememeber of the top of my head who he said it was, that he will provide me if I win the boat, Anyway, I was wondering what you guys think of the motor is it a good reliable motor? He said that it works like a watch and hasn't had any issues out of that Yamaha outboard, but I just want your guys honest opinion on the motor and the deck boat. Thanks, Bob:redface:

run away
to start with you cannot rebuild a gear case for 800.
just aint gonna happen, the parts alone cost that much.
a reseal job is 100 in parts and, without salt issues, takes about 3 hours.
if you do wish to purchase this saltwater corrosion problem, at least have the shift shaft carefully inspected.
they tended to corrode badly in the years prior to 95.
but you really realy want to stay away from any saltwater motors older than 2000.
just say no.
