My local Suzuki technician indicates that the head and exhaust cover bolts on the above motor should be loosened and re-torqued on an annual basis. Is this some unique Suzuki requirement or do all 2 stroke/cycle engines require this treatment. If the answer is yes, then it's going to be a fun winter as all of the exhaust bolts are seized, and 50% of the head bolts.

mert1
if it has not been done, and yes most makes require it yet never get it, dont mess with it now. ya cant play catchup and if you start now then yep many many broken bolts. kinda like a bad pump or running without oil. once overheated or run without lube new parts and premix wont helpmuch.

Thanks for your comments rodbolt. One more question - if the bolts are siezed are they likely to be generating the appropriate clamping force, and whats the worst that could happen.
Graeme

if you start messing with them and snap the heads you will HAVE to drill and rethread.
