Hello,
I have a 1992 Johnson 175 Fast Start on the 1992 Cajun I just purchased and I need to know if the engine has a 60 or 90 degree head. I was told that someone can tell by the model number. It is a model: VJ175GLENC

Thanks,
DaNorski
RadioGame@aol.com

Since your engine is a 92' as indicated by the EN in the model number,I'm pretty certain that it is a 60 degree engine.I don't think there was a 92' model 90 degree 175.As always, one of the pros will correct me if I'm wrong.

You can also remove the engine cover and tell whether the heads are 90 degree or 60 just by a visual.

Eagle series V6 175's started in 1991, so it's a 60 Deg. Looper.

Quick way to tell, if your pan mounted trim switch is on the port side, you have a 60 degree motor. If it's on the stb., then it's a 90.

That simplifies things greatly, and I even knew that, but didn't think of it at the time....
I don't believe there is a 90 deg. 175 in 92 though, is there Seahorse??

I don't remember and don't have parts books handy, back then OMC would sometimes add a model in mid-year for a short run. That's why I use trim button technique for that time period.
