1992 Johnson 25hp No spark

Hey guys, I bought a 1992 Johnson 25 hp motor and I am not getting any spark on either plug? I was told that it has sat for 2 years in a garage. Compression was good at 130 and 132. The motor cranks over good. If it was one plug not getting spark I would think it was a coil but how often do both coils go bad at the same time from sitting?

Most likely a bad cdi box.. Hard to test that component, but you can verify proper resistance from charge and pickup coil wires from under flywheel to rule them out. If you go to CDI's website, you'll find the test procedures.

is the CDI the two coils? I have a suzuki that has a CDI unit where the spark plug wires lead into but this one has two separate coils?

Have you checked the kill switch ??------the cdi unit is the black box that has 2 orange wires going to the coils .--Sparkplug wires come from the coils.

No I have not checked the kill switch. What is a good what to check to see if its bad?

After many hours of tinkering with it I finally realized how the kill switch functioned. There was not leash in it and all I had to do is put one in and it fired right up! Feel like an idiot! haha thanks for your guises help!
