My first post and my first boat. Something seems to have slipped in the lower unit. Crusing accross the lake and all of the sudden the motor spun out and have no more power. Motor and all gauges appear good and it idles fine in and putts in the water when in gear. As soon as you give it gas it slips and goes no where. What can I check to see what the problem is?

Check for a spun hub on the prop. That is the most likely thing to happen in a situation like this.

What is the easiest way to check for a spun hub? Is that easy to fix. Do i have to remove the lower unit?

just remove the prop, have your local prop repair shop install a new hub.

The easiest way to check is to mark a line across the prop and hubn the run the motor, it the marks are not lined up after running it then you have a spun hull. No you do not have to remove the lower end, just the prop as stated above.
