Low oil wanring even though my oil resevoir is full. I've replaced the oil resevoir because the gauge inside that measures the oil level wasn't working very well. I also replaced the oil sensor module at the same time. The noise went away for about a week and then it came back. I hear the noise as I turn the key to the on position, just before crankig the motor. The noise continues when the motor is started and it won't stop unless I turn the key back to the off position. I'm thinking that maybe my control box/ignition is faulty. Should I start by replacing that?

Howdy Neighbor! Go Bucky!

You replaced the tank and I assume the warning module on the motor. The other possibilities include an intermittent short in the wiring, but I think you might have a bad alarm. The square black warning module mounted on the motor and the alarm inside the control can sound the horn when either of those two components fail. The hot horn itself used to fail to sound if there was a problem with it and you could cook your motor and never hear a warning. So they designed them to sound if the hot horn itself should fail. They typically sound a steady tone as soon as you turn on the key and never shuts off until you turn the key off. (The warning module can do that too if it's bad.)

There are also other more serious possibilities. It could be a problem with a switchbox, a bad or weak switchbox can send the wrong message to the alarm.(I asume this is an intemittent beeping. that would indicate the oil system. Steady beep is temp. system) Also even more serious is you gear inside your motor that the oil pump driveshaft turns is stripping out. Make sure you locate the problem before you run the motor, or run premix in the gas tank 50-1 just in case the motor isn't getting the right amount of oil. It could be a simple thing like Willy pointed out, or it could be more serious. I had the same problem and by the time I figured it out I fried a cylinder do to lack of oil. I pre-mix now and have no worries. Good luck to you and let us know what you found out.
CU

---------------------
RUNNING THE MOTOR WHILE LISTENING TO THE HORN WILL MAKE YOU MORN!!!

Hmm, it's sounding like I just need to break down and take it to a merc repair shop. Not sure, if I can figure out how to troubleshoot the problem when there are all of those possibilities. Ugh!
