I purchased the boat and engine last year. i am waiting on the manual. It is at a marina currently and I am not sure if it is safe to operate it and get it to a boat ramp or just try to get it fixed there. it beeps twice when you turn the key to the on position and now it started to beep continuous short beeps as soon as it starts up? Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks

Its no oil pressure(VRO Tank empty or low) or no waterpressure warning, check your oil tank first if that's full crank it and check for small water stream coming from backside of motor( On a 92 it probably needs a water pump) I'am not a mech, but those are the two most common things all else just talk to a mech at the marina, he -may- look at it for free :)

Thank you. I just went to the marina and the oil tank is full but there is no water stream coming from the engine. Thanks for the help!

short beeps means oil problems could be:Empty tank,Faulty sender in tank, faulty oil pump. With the engine running disconnect the wire from the oil tank if the alarm stops it is probably the sender in the tank that has failed.Youll have to buy a new tank.Did you have the engine running when you checked for water from the tell tale?<br />If the engine was overheating the alarm would sound continuously. If there is no flow from the tell tale(small hole on the bottom right of the motor)It could be :Faulty water pump, blocked water passages, faulty thermostat/poppet valve. The leg must be in the water or muffs fitted with the hose running to check this.

I did start the engine and no water was coming from the tell tale. i didn't even run the engine for a full minute because I didn't know what the alarm was for and I didn't want to cause any lasting damage. It was not a long continuous beep but short beeps sounding repeatedly. Does the engine need to warm up before it starts sending water through the tell tale? What should I check first?

It does need to warm up before it pisses. Take a look at the reserve tank on the motor and see if it is full. If so, you can take the cap off the reserve and play with the float to see if it stops beeping (possible problem). If it is not full you need to see if the remote tank is air tight. You may also want to pull the oil pick up tube out of the remote tank and inspect the bottom screen for old oil build up. This will also keep it from filling the remote tank. Good luck.

Try blowing back thru the tell tale hole you should be able to if its blocked pull the hose & check it & then try blowing thru that compressed air may help to clean it if there are any blockages. My engines have water from the tell tale about 2 seconds or less after starting. If you are worried about damaging the engine fill the tank with some 50.1 premix & then try to sort out the alarm the extra oil in the fuel wont hurt(may smoke a bit more)& will protect the engine if your oil injection isnt working.
