I have a 1992 sunbird with a 4.3 omc I/O and I am having a major problem that is beating me. The boat sat for 3 years and untill now I in in the rehab process. First the starter died and was replaced. Next the sparkplugs were replaced and checked for spark which it has. Fuel is getting into the carb and getting from the tank. I turn the key and it just turns over. The carb has been cleaned out and looks good. I'm thinking it's something simple that I'm overlooking that is making me pull my hair out. Please help ASAP!!! Thank you

Is your kill switch on or off or malfunctioning??

I would look there first.

Is the kill switch located by the key? I had to buy a new clip for it today since the old one was lost how can you test that?

As I can tell I see gas getting into the carb and going down if that helps. Am I checking something wrong?

If yer getting fuel and spark, then at least it should backfire or stumble a bit. Then you'd know you had a timing issue. Without seeing the boat in action it's hard to say. Try squirting some fuel in the carb manually (squirt bottle or syringe). Could be a lack of compression, but you should still get some bang of some sort.....but you could do a compression test anyhow. If sat that long without being stored properly, the rings could be seized causing a no compression problem, or even a cracked block if it froze.

Should be obvious but is the fuel in the boat been sitting for three years as well?
