Hi guys. At my wits end here. Motor starts right up and idles fine, but sometimes stalls when in gear. At high speed it's down on power, and will cut out unless i hit the primer, but it still stalls after coming off plane and is really hard to get it to idle after that. I had to keep bumping the key after high speed run to get it to idle home. this tells me it's probably fuel related, so i replaced the blocked off OMS pump with conventional fuel pumps. same problem. pulled the carbs and cleaned all 6. all were SURGICALLY CLEAN. then when i went to remove the throttle bodies noticed a core plug fell out! took the port side upper throttle body off to install a new plug (thinking this had to be causing the issues) and noticed a piece of zip tie was stuck in the upper calibration pocket. how this got there i have no idea . engine was running great for 11 years. pic is what i found. anyone know how this might effect the motor? anything else to check that might be plugged up for high speed before I put it back toghether? manual doesnt recommend anything else. Note: I did replace flywheel magnets a few years ago. now the stator is dripping that dreaded plastic covering for the charge coil. did a running volt test at coil primary's... all were 187v at idle and over 200v when throttle was blipped, accept for 1 cyl that was 152v. manual says anything over 130v is fine, but will check power pack and sensor coil next. Thanks for any help in advance.... my boating season is coming to a close.
