My 1993 4.3L Mercruiser is stalling when I try to put it in gear. I starts up fine when it is cold but once I turn it off and then try to take off again it just stalls. It continues to get worse, is this a problem with the carb? Also when I take off it has a hesitation in the begining???????

The motor also diesel's sometimes when I turn it off?

Any ideas?

Your help will be much appreciated!

Ayuh,... Welcome Aboard,.....

The quote sounds like the lower Shift Cable is Shot,+ is dragging....

The rest of your problems sounds like a really Gummed Up Fuel System.....

Ditto the above.

Is this a "new to you" boat or have you had it a while. If you don't know the history you could easily spend a few hundred dollars(if you do it all) or a couple thousand(paying the mechanic) to catch up on overdue maintenance.

I know this is an old thread but wondering if anyone has feedback for similar issues. When motor is cold. I start it in neutral after a few pumps to get fuel moving. When started, try to give it a bit of gas in neutral to rev it up a bit, but it will stall. After it is warmed up a bit, no problem. Also, after running around for a bit, I turn the motor off, it continues to run a bit afterwards. Not every time but sometimes.
Any thoughts?

Sinko - you need to start a new thread for you problem and include specifics about what engine and drive you have along with when problem started and when the maint items were last addressed.
