My screen was broken, I did not notice it and ran my motor on a weedy lake. After a few trips my motor would shut down and not start. I finally attributed this to the motor not pumping water.

i have broken down the lower unit of this motor and replaced the screen, taken out the thermostat and checked this put everything back together and now the motor will pump on an idle, but when I increase the RPM's it does not pump.

QUESTION: How do I fix this mess that I have gotten myself into?

Is there a way i can blow out any obstruction that may be in the motor?

Is there a way I can take something apart myself that may fix this problem?

FYI, the impeller is in great shape. Thanks in advance for your efforts in helping me fix this problem.

Are you testing using muffs, deep in a 55 gal barrel or in the lake Etc? I have a 1970 35 hp Chrysler and 2? from my usual deep position in the barrel (due to storing on jack stands) caused no water that had always been instant.

The boat is in a lake, I have tilt/trim and have tried it at different depths with negative results.
