When starting motor airlocks before the carburetor. After bleeding the fuel line before the carburetor, the motor starts and runs fine. Cannot find why the airlock develops.

The motor would not fire. I checked everything--lots of spark etc. I realized it was not getting gas. To be sure the fuel pump was pumping, I followed the fuel supply finally to the high point immediately before the carburetor. So I removed the fuel hose from the carb intake and turned the motor over. A mixture of fuel and air bubbled from the fuel line until the fuel ran smoothly. After this, the motor started up immediately. Then the motor ran like a top. But the next time that I went to use the boat I had the same problem. This has happened 3 times. after the first time, I checked all the fuel connections and replaced 1 small fuel line. I did have to also tighten some of the fuel connections. But still have same issue. What could it be?

Check your primer bulb and check it’s going the right way too.

I have checked the entire fuel system twice. The issue is somewhere between the fuel pump and the carburetor but I cannot find an issue. There are no apparent leaks, the line is not plugged, I have serviced the fuel pu8mp and the carburetor, the fuel line is not plugged etc. Once I bleed the air from the line the motor runs fine.

What kind of fuel are you using and is the motor exposed to direct sunlight ?------Never heard of anyone having this issue.----What was the part # of the fuel pump kit you used.---Serial # of your motor ?

I'm thinking that one of the plastic parts in the fuel supply system may have a hidden crack and the air slowly bleeds into the system. It's the only possibility, but I wanted to see if anyone had had this issue and had found a solution.

Oh. Got you. It will most likely be the fuel pump rubber perished or perforated then. You’d assume.
