Hello I was wondering if anybody could tell me if it's possible to run a 1993 60 hp Johnson with a with the controls from a 2000 Johnson that I already have on the boat . Some body told me it would have be a 96 or newer for it to work . Could anybody shed some light on this subject ? Any help or information would be great . Thanks

I think your somebody is correct. The controls were updated between 95 and 96 models from my research.

Yes ,you can get an adapter from BPR or CDI. Alarm is system is not the same. Me, I would cut the connectors off of the control harnes and hardwire to engine. Leave a 6 inch pigtail on the connectors you cut off, so can be reused.
