Had a couple of trips lately where the overheat alarm would sound when running at higher speed (this is a new thing, its been fine). Plenty of water pissing and on the pressure indicator. I did both the water pump and t stats (thats a pain) a couple of years ago.

Should I do the water pump first and see if that clears it up? Is two years a normal interval in shallow saltwater to be doing the whole pump kit? Thanks in advance for any suggestions , great website .

My personal recommendation on a salt water boat that gets a lot of use is do the water pump and T-ststs annually. You might also try flushing the motor with Salt-away or a similar product.

I think that the book recomends that the impeller be replaced each year.
