Good morning guys.
Just got back from my garage, where last night, I set my outboard flywheel puller nice and tight on the flywheel of this little project engine.I doused it in penetrating oil and waited all night for the magic to happen.Except,it didn't.
My manual for this one is still in the mail and has been there since 12-25.
Is there anything different that I should know before doing damage?Like does this type have a thread instead of a woodruff key?
What should my next step be? I have far too many stripped and broken parts in my junk heap already and maybe stubborn attitude is not expedient.
Thanks for any advice,
rolmops.

rolmops,

If this is a hand rewind starter model there should be a round ratchet plate that needs to be removed before the flywheel nut is removed, if this has been done the flywheel should come off using a puller as you are currently doing. There are no threads mentioned that would hold the f/wheel other than the nut.

Keep in mind this info comes from a Seloc that covers that motor.

Maybe you just need to give it few more turns on the puller. You don't want to apply so much tension as to pull the threads out of the wheel though.

rolmops....nothing holding the flywheel on but the flywheel nut. It's keyed.

After the recoil starter is removed, the flywheel is clear to remove. Sounds like a little rusting going on there? A few "love" taps on the puller screw may dislodge it. Or, take a turn on the screw and keep it soaked down with penetrant.

Keep soaking it. if you have air tools use an impact gun on it. Watch out when she lets loose.

Remember when putting flywheel back on the keys outer edge runs parallel to the taper of the crankshaft(9.9-15hp)

Rap that fly wheel puller screw. you know the biggun that sets against the crank and then tighten a little bit more and rap it again. while you are in the rapping mood give that fly wheel a little tap on opposite sides. This normally wakes that thing up :D
