In replacing the water pump on my 1993 90-hp Force engine I found that the 20" waterline (# F523244) was cracked. After looking for the part online (iboats, **********, etc.) I realized that this part is unavailable. Anyone know where I can source one?

Go to the Engine FAQs forum and look up the salvage yards listing, mitchbuck.

It is a brass or bronze tube. If the crack is not too bad remove it and silver solder it closed. Or replace it with thin wall tubing (stainless if you can get it--try Graingers or McMaster-Carr)

I am not sure.....how do I tell the difference? Any idea what diameter stainless tubing I would need?

I'd measure it from the tubing you remove that needs replaced.

Replacing it can be a BUMMER!!!
Try to get a piece of hose that just fits over it.Slide it over the tube???
Cover it with the hose.
Just replacing it can be fun.You might need to remove the powerhead.

Thanks guys, I bought the new one that was on ebay. I am aware that the powerhead is going to have to come off to install. This will be fun.....

Needed to add this.

The tiny screws (that hold the retainer/gromet in place) will be very hard to get out without breaking!!!
WD or PB Blaster then heat and a tiny hammer.
Spray/tap(gently)heat.
Repeat.then try to loosen, Be carefull they are a bugger to fix.

So after I bought the one on ebay I get an email a few hours later that 'oops, we sold it the other day and don't have it'. Anyways, I wasn't too happy about that, but I did some frantic googlin and found one at MarineEngine .com. They actually have a lot of them in stock if anyone else ever needs one.....which is good to know since its an obsolete part. I got in today and we'll see how it goes.

That hose trick is a lot easier and quicker.
But not nearly as much fun as removing the powerhead and all the other stuff:)

The problem is the waterline just didn't have a crack in it....it was essentially sheared and only hanging together by a thread.

Sorry no pics, i had a shop do it. They did show me the waterline....it had totally corroded through at the top near the flare.
