I have heard they are one of the more troublesome engines ever made by Force and I also have seen a few posts where people loved them. They are an odd engine to be sure just the fact they are a five cylinder. Basic design I think is the same as a 120 only with one more cylinder. I always sorta wanted one because they are sort of odd and I have a fondness for the big old tall outboard look sort of like tho old 6 cylinder inline Merc. Just like most other outboards I think they are many times as good or bad as was the care given to them by the owner. I have a 95 model 120 and aside from the stator and water pump impeller I have done nothing other that spark plugs and lower unit lube changes. I do winterize and decarbon yearly though. If it has good compression and runs well and you are getting it for a REALLY good price I see no reason mot to give it a try. Especially if you do not mind tinkering with it. If you want a turn the key and go cruising across the lake outboard with no maintenance issues I would advise you to pass.
