1993 Johnson 70 hp warning horn problems

Starting a cold engine turn the key to on get no beep. Start motor and get one continuous tone for about five minutes and then it shuts off. Pulled the two wires from the temperature sensor no change. VRO has been disconnected. Thanks for any help.

What is the model number of that engine?,,,,

How many wires are attached to that warning horn?

Is this engine new to you or have you owned it for some time?

EDIT 08/17/17: Engine was originally listed as a 1973 model, corrected by owner recently to the year 1993. Since I retired in 1991, I am leaving this 1993 model solution to the present more knowledgeable iBoat members.

Two wires to the temperature sensor. I bought the motor used about a year ago hadn't run for at least 16 years. It's been running fine with no horn problems until just recently.it's got Quickstart and slow features on it.
